Fabulous Friends of FHV: Lily Kelly

When we think of the words Caring and Fun, per Kyra Flummerfelt, Lily Kelly’s name comes up. She gives her time to the Girl Scouts of Douglas County in abundance and without hesitation with care and adds the fun. She is the Douglas County Service Unit 716 Manager. She provides support to Girl Scout leaders and volunteers alike. She has done this for an amazing 14 years.

Lily has green blood, what people say when you are a total supporter of Girl Scouts. You may not know this, but she understands all the levels of Girl Scouting. She was a Brownie and a Junior Girl Scout. She was a troop leader for 15 years in Southwest Indiana involved with Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, and a Senior troop. For 17 years, she was a Southwest Indiana and GSKSMO GS board member, with one term as Board President.

Per Kyra Flummerfelt, she has served our service unit, and supported Hidden Valley in the same way, with such dedication. She has not only helped our Girl Scouts, but also Girl Scout leaders, achieve the best experiences they can have in the Girl Scout program.

In Lily’s own words, being a part of Girl Scouting is giving girls an opportunity to think big, be big, and make a positive difference in the world. Through Girl Scouts, girls demonstrate the Girl Scout Promise and Law. We know these values are part of our future.

Further, she says through Girl Scout program and Hidden Valley Camp, girls are allowed to explore, learn, create, and make mistakes in a safe environment.

She says Hidden Valley is a convenient location for Girl Scouts to gather and learn. And Hidden Valley volunteers have a deep commitment and passion to Girl Scouts. People like Lily herself, and other women and men, in the Girl Scout program, and those who work and assist with programs at Hidden Valley Camp, present girls with positive role models.

In requesting information about herself, Lily is more likely to thank others. She says: “I am thankful to Mr. Bromelsick, the Hidden Valley Board, Friends of Hidden Valley, Durand, the Camp Manager, and all the volunteers who give countless hours to provide Girl Scout experiences.”

We are so lucky to have Lily as the SU 716 Unit Manager. She plays an important part in reminding leaders and girls alike the importance of Lawrence Hidden Valley camp and the many experiences it can provide for girls in the Girl Scout program.

Thank you Lily for your support of Girl Scouting, and Lawrence Hidden Valley Camp, “the Best Part’s the Fun!” (per Mariana Remple, a founder of Lawrence Hidden Valley Camp)
